Flow Patterning Sessions
The flow of water forms canyons over time. Meanwhile, rivers are guided in their flow by the walls of canyons. Our movements similarly create and are created by our bodies. Flow patterning sessions transform your body, your movement, and your life’s flow through a customized integration of somatic movement therapy, hands-on fascial bodywork, and Pilates.
What to Expect
In your initial consultation we will discuss your interests and relationship to your body and movement. Most commonly we will approach your transformative journey with a variety of approaches, including gentle and specific touch, directed movement, and practices you can work on at home. That said, some clients come specifically for bodywork, others for a Pilates workout, some to seek freedom, and others to improve their performance in disciplines they’re already experts at, such as mountain biking, tennis, or dance. Flow patterning is a fluid and collaborative approach addressing your specific needs.
Matthew’s quality of touch is characterized by direction and timing rather than by force. Seeing, feeling, and creating movement, Matthew will engage with your body directly through touch, while also helping you to process the changes that take place. To facilitate ease of movement you will remain fully clothed unless there are specific adhesions in your tissues that require more direct contact.
Only you can generate your vitality. Matthew will support you to investigate your body so that you have more possibilities, sensations, and skills when you leave than when you arrived.
Above all else Matthew is an educator. You will learn about functional anatomy and physiology, psychological attitudes for change, and how to apply what happens in the studio to the rest of your life.
